birds beyond

Sssssoo, a while back, I mentioned a little thing that wouldn't leave me alone, tada, this is that thing. I was reading some Batman Beyond fanfic on Archive Of Our Own that had Matt becoming Robin and lo. I kind of suck at designing magic future spandex for superheroes?

The entire time I was doodling for this I swear I heard that Edna lady from Incredibles going 'No capes!'

Matt doesn't get any red or green because I was trying to keep the colors simple (and anyway, Batman got dibs on red and black). Also, I found out that there's a European robin that's orange and I was like 'alright, now I've got another excuse!' And yellow is a bright and happy color, and perhaps Matt is not the most invisible ninja in the history of ninja-dom, but eh. I liked the color. The bit with his shoe-feet is totally inspired/ganked from a design by Jemma Salume which is here ([link] )

And then I started making up little details, and out pops Dak--the one runaway kid from the episode 'Where's Terry?' At first I was gonna try and make a separate Robin suit for him but then I was like 'nah' and copypasta'd Matt's base to make Dak. The little story I made up for him is that, inspired by Batman, he eventually decides to go be a vigilante too--he starts out with home-made stuff, and once Terry realizes that they can't dissuade him, he takes him on. (Matt would be Robin by this time, and already wore Terry down on the subject of young partners.)

Dak's Bluebird because he isn't Robin and he's too small to be Nightwing. I imagine he uses the flying-squirrel wings for gliding instead of getting wing things like Terry and Matt. I also like to think that if he kept at it, he'd eventually graduate to being Nightwing and get the blue and black suit with the fingerstripes on, instead of the one with the bird that DCAU's got.

In there somewhere, a joke about Batman running an aviary, and Bluebird and Robin snarking it out across the skies of Gotham like the little twips they are.

...lol tl;dr--bumblebee-colored Robins and bad Nightwing suits. Batman Beyond and all related stuff doesn't belong to me; the jumpy pose was referenced off a picture of Young Justice Robin.
