Personality:

An animated fellow with an endless capacity for drama. He's a good listener, though his ability to actually soothe people is hit-or-miss. He's a bit cheeky and can seem pretty mouthy for a guy who doesn't actually say anything.

Though he technically has a voice, it is very raspy and whispery, barely audible even at the best of times. Thus, he rarely speaks and prefers to go through life as if mute, relying on sign language, body language, and the written word to get his point across. His gestures can be very exaggerated and over-the-top at times--he likes to entertain. He is self-conscious about his voice, though he'd claim he isn't--it sounds a bit like he'd walked out of a horror movie, in his opinion. When battling, he directs his pokemon with patterns of clicks and whistles.

He is very meticulous about his appearance, but won't hesitate to get mussed up and dirty if the situation calls for it. Has some problems with sitting still, and likes to keep busy if he can help it. He dislikes being fussed over and bristles if he feels someone is trying to treat him as delicate or helpless.

Background:

As a child, Cassidy was the sickly and runty sort: he managed to catch just about every childhood disease possible, and then some. Then an accident put him in the hospital and damaged his voice--between one thing and another, his parents became stiflingly overprotective, frustrating their child to no end. Cassidy did his best to go adventuring in the nearby forest despite their best efforts, either with his grandfather or with a handful of his many cousins. In contrast to his parents, Cassidy's grandpa was much more relaxed--while he was always mindful of Cassidy's health, he never tried to keep Cassidy at home if the boy was having a good day.

Thanks to his grandpa, Cassidy became very interested in the sciences. When it came time for college, he started out as a botany major--he switched majors a couple times before eventually coming back to it. After he (finally) graduated, Cassidy decided he ought to get a bit of travelling done before settling.

Lily was trained by Cassidy's parents to look after their son, and she takes her job seriously. Though he initially resented her for her fussing and his parents for foisting his first pokemon on him, they've built up a good rapport. She tolerates his antics with something between longsuffering patience, respect, and vast annoyance and keeps an eye out for any signs of illness, though he's more healthy nowadays.

Kind, friendly, placid. Often asleep and could probably sleep through anything. Very few things can keep her awake for long--Cassidy half-suspects that she actually battles in her sleep, from time to time. Caught while on vacation during high school.

Mistral delights in pranks and loves to harass all humans, though she isn't actively malicious about it. She used to spread the misery pretty equally in the family, starting with his grandpa and moving on to Cassidy and his many cousins. Lately, she seems to have decided to love him best, for a given value of love. Although he has her pokeball and she follows him around, Cassidy makes no assumptions about being able to command Mistral. Her favorite thing to do is mess with Cassidy's clothes.
